I’m currently sitting in the middle of a
mountain of CDs, going through them to finally sell them. We have hundreds. On my first pass through them, I put nearly all of mine in the ‘keep’ pile. Now, on my second pass through, I’m trying to be a little more critical. But so many of these have strong memories for me, even if I haven’t listened to them in years. R.E.M., Jeff Buckley, the ‘Romeo + Juliet’ soundtrack, the first Dixie Chicks album (I listened to it every time i drove to Houston to see my husband)… all of then remind me of places and people and events in my life. Sure, I’ll still have the music in Mp3 format, but there’s something about having the actual physical CD and the liner notes… Some will just have to stay with me forever.
