Curve Away

I'm Jen, a 30-something, music-loving mommy living in the coolest city in Texas.

About this blog:
Music, life, and more music. I love all kinds of music, but my taste seems to be more alternative/indie/folkish these days. That said, my favorite bands are as mainstream as they come. Coldplay and Snow Patrol feature heavily on this blog, so if you're not a fan of them, you may want to avoid me on Saturdays and Sundays.

I also have a health/fitness/exercise blog: move-eat-behappy.tumblr.com . Check it out if you like. :)

My musical preferences, according to my last.fm: I'm into indie, alternative, rock, folk and acoustic, including:
Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Band of Horses, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, Death Cab for Cutie, The Swell Season, The Beatles, Tired Pony, Arcade Fire, R.E.M., Muse, The Avett Brothers, Stars, The Civil Wars, Metric, Ra Ra Riot, Travis, Noah And The Whale, Freelance Whales, Quiet Company, Florence + The Machine, Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend, Iron & Wine, The National, U2, Blind Pilot, Keane, Andrew Bird, Editors, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Phoenix, Glen Hansard, Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The xx, Feist, Broken Bells, The Temper Trap, Spoon, The Sundays, The Black Keys, English Chamber Orchestra, Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor, The Cure.

4 Things I Learned at ACL Today (Saturday edition)

  1. I need a hat for tomorrow.
  2. Sweet Leaf Lemon Iced Tea is extra yummy when you’re extra parched.
  3. Two Door Cinema Club are my new band crush.  So good.
  4. Nothing gets a crowd going like a little Uprising.  Muse killed it.

Help me plan my Saturday ACL schedule

The Temper Trap and The xx are both playing at the same time on Saturday.  I know them about equally, which is to say, not all that much.  I like them both.  Which would you check out and why?  :D

good news

I’m going!  I’m going!  I’m going!  I’m going!!!!!

I somehow managed to win a pair of 3 day passes to ACL in a call-in radio contest!  I still can’t really believe it, but I’m sooo excited to be able to go and see some incredible live music.  The only downer in the whole thing is the fact that my concert-going partner in crime can’t go with me because she’ll be out of town.  :(  I’ll just have to remember every single little insignificant detail.

ACL Countdown/Way Back Wed. Song of the Day- Peaceful Easy Feeling- The Eagles

There once was a time I loved The Eagles.  That time has passed.  But, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for this song.  It was the first thing I heard on the radio when I got in the car to drive to the chapel to get married.  It was a beautiful January day and this song put me in exactly the right frame of mind.

‘Cause I got a peaceful easy feeling
and I know you won’t let me down
‘cause I’m already standing on the ground

ACL Countdown Song of the Day- Is This It- The Strokes

Oh dear, can’t you see? It’s them it’s not me
We’re not enemies; We just disagree
If I was like them all pissed in this bar
