Curve Away

I'm Jen, a 30-something, music-loving mommy living in the coolest city in Texas.

About this blog:
Music, life, and more music. I love all kinds of music, but my taste seems to be more alternative/indie/folkish these days. That said, my favorite bands are as mainstream as they come. Coldplay and Snow Patrol feature heavily on this blog, so if you're not a fan of them, you may want to avoid me on Saturdays and Sundays.

I also have a health/fitness/exercise blog: move-eat-behappy.tumblr.com . Check it out if you like. :)

My musical preferences, according to my last.fm: I'm into indie, alternative, rock, folk and acoustic, including:
Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Band of Horses, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, Death Cab for Cutie, The Swell Season, The Beatles, Tired Pony, Arcade Fire, R.E.M., Muse, The Avett Brothers, Stars, The Civil Wars, Metric, Ra Ra Riot, Travis, Noah And The Whale, Freelance Whales, Quiet Company, Florence + The Machine, Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend, Iron & Wine, The National, U2, Blind Pilot, Keane, Andrew Bird, Editors, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Phoenix, Glen Hansard, Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The xx, Feist, Broken Bells, The Temper Trap, Spoon, The Sundays, The Black Keys, English Chamber Orchestra, Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor, The Cure.

Song of the Day- Conversation 16- The National

Ah, The National. One of the bands I am VERY excited to see play ACL Fest this year.

Song of the Day- England- The National

I love this song. It’s cold and dark here today and this song is just perfect.

Sometimes being an adult sucks.

Further proof I’m getting old. I am SERIOUSLY considering selling my tickets to see The National Sunday night because I am so freaking busy and so freaking tired. This week has kicked my ass, and it’s not over yet. Saturday promises to be a day from hell and it all starts up again on Monday. Sunday looks to be the only day for a while that I could actually spend some time with my family, put up the christmas tree, and oh yeah… relax for a while. BUT, it’s THE NATIONAL! :(

Just bought my tickets the other day to see The National and Local Natives in December. :)

This most likely will turn out to be my favourite song of the year. Love the lyrics, love the melodies in the background. I think anything Richard Parry touches turns to gold.

Mine too, Briggs, mine too.

Conversation 16- The National

Just now starting to get into the awesomeness that is The National.  Loved them at ACL… just got High Violet

4 Things I Learned at ACL Today (Sunday edition)

  1. Arriving there before 1 pm allows you to breeze on in.  Nice.
  2. Eating a sketchy chipotle chicken wrap from a fest vendor minutes before boarding the shuttle home is a bad idea.  A very bad idea.  ugh.
  3. The guys (and gal) from Blind Pilot are very chatty and nice and will take a picture with you if you ask them to.
  4. Band of Horses immediately followed by The National is a wonderfully lethal combination.
