Curve Away

I'm Jen, a 30-something, music-loving mommy living in the coolest city in Texas.

About this blog:
Music, life, and more music. I love all kinds of music, but my taste seems to be more alternative/indie/folkish these days. That said, my favorite bands are as mainstream as they come. Coldplay and Snow Patrol feature heavily on this blog, so if you're not a fan of them, you may want to avoid me on Saturdays and Sundays.

I also have a health/fitness/exercise blog: move-eat-behappy.tumblr.com . Check it out if you like. :)

My musical preferences, according to my last.fm: I'm into indie, alternative, rock, folk and acoustic, including:
Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Band of Horses, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, Death Cab for Cutie, The Swell Season, The Beatles, Tired Pony, Arcade Fire, R.E.M., Muse, The Avett Brothers, Stars, The Civil Wars, Metric, Ra Ra Riot, Travis, Noah And The Whale, Freelance Whales, Quiet Company, Florence + The Machine, Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend, Iron & Wine, The National, U2, Blind Pilot, Keane, Andrew Bird, Editors, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Phoenix, Glen Hansard, Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The xx, Feist, Broken Bells, The Temper Trap, Spoon, The Sundays, The Black Keys, English Chamber Orchestra, Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor, The Cure.

Back to the Future/MX/Hurts Like Heaven - Coldplay, live in Dallas

Here’s one of my videos from the night. Pretty shaky, but not too bad, overall. It’s hard to stand still to that song! Watching it again now, I STILL get goosebumps when MX starts and the xylobands start flashing.

It’s been a week since this show, and I figured I better sit down and write something out before much more time passes.

Coldplay Withdrawl

At this time last night, I was in a state of Coldplay-induced euphoria, watching them live for my first (and only) MX tour show. It was an incredible show, and I need to do a whole nice write up for it. But right now, I’m just a little sad that they’re playing again a couple (hundred) miles from my house and I’m here and not there. This feeling will be repeated again on Monday and Tuesday when they play in Houston. Ah, well. I have several friends who are there tonight, and I hope they enjoy it as much as I did!

Some of my photos from the July 2009 concerts in Dallas and Houston.

My husband and I took a little roadtrip to see the guys in Houston and Dallas.  It was a mini-vacation for us (the kids stayed with grandma), and we had so much fun.  I think he became a proper Coldplay fan after those shows.  We had pit in Dallas and were right in front of the c-stage in Houston.  Could not have asked for better spots.  I tried desperately all night to snap a good pic of Chris, but it was nearly impossible when he wasn’t sitting at the piano.  Also, I’m short, so I’m always at a huge disadvantage in pit situations.  But, I had a lovely view of Guy all night, so I definitely couldn’t complain! Plus, the Dallas show was one of the only, (if not THE only) show that Chris played a bit of Trouble at, while at the b-stage.  :}

Being in front of the c-stage in Houston was also really cool. It was fun to be able to experience the show on a larger scale, actually being able to take in all the lighting and video that was going on, that you can’t really focus on when you’re up close.  PLUS, having the guys run right by me up the stairs and then singing mere feet from me couldn’t be beat!
