Mexico- The Staves

I went to see The Civil Wars Thursday night with two of my bestest friends. One of them and I had gone to see The Civil Wars last summer, so we were prepared to be blown away by their awesomeness yet again.

What I was not prepared for was the absolutely amazingly gorgeous opening act. The Staves are a trio of sisters from England. They took the stage with only an acoustic guitar and a ukelele, and proceeded to enthrall the audience with their delicate, intricate harmonies. Their songs are simple, but extremely melodic, and just plain beautiful. Their sound reminded me a bit of the Fleet Foxes (without all the production), and artists like Lisa Hannigan and Damien Rice. They sounded incredible and they were also quite charming, displaying playful personalities. They further endeared themselves to the audience by talking up their new found love of Shiner Bock Beer (a Texas brewed beer).

Check out this lovely video for the song, Mexico, which is the title track of their three song EP available on itunes and HERE.
